From a very young age, Jonathan started mastering the piano and violin, picking up the drums along the way. He completed grade 8 in piano and grade 5 in drums before making the choice not to pursue grades. Moving to New Zealand, he learned the trombone for school and has plenty of performance experience playing in numerous bands, such as orchestra and Big Band.

In his later years in high school, Jonathan picked up singing lessons, subsequently doing his Cambridge Music A levels performing with singing and passing with As. He has continued on with music to University where he is currently enrolled in Bachelor of Music, majoring in Jazz Performance in Voice. He is also broadening his skills by adding Jazz piano and drums to his repertoire, while maintaining his finesse in the trombone by continually performing it in numerous bands within the university, such as the University Big Band. He performs at the occasional gig, both as an instrumentalist and a singer across Auckland. 

Jonathan also appears professionally at weddings and was recruited as a backup vocalist in the Voice of China NZ tour.
